The Garden – An outdoor play for young children

The Garden is an interactive theater performance for children aged 0-5 and their families, touring public parks in NYC. In The Garden, families experience the life cycle through all five senses, with text performed in English, Spanish, and Mandarin. 

Together, explore nature materials from all across the city: watch milkweed from Jamaica Bay float on the wind; feel the rough bark of sticks from Central Park; smell long pine needles from Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn; hear the crunch of leaves from St. Mary’s Park in the Bronx and Snug Harbor in Staten Island; and while we play, we’ll share a peaceful moment together as a family and as a community. 

Families will be seated outdoors on picnic blankets in the grass. There will be limited folding chairs available for those with physical access needs. 

The show is designed for babies, toddlers, and kids under 5; older siblings are welcome to join in as long as they are with their younger sibling.

The show is performed in English, Spanish, and Mandarin; there will be ushers and programs available in both English and Spanish. 

If it rains, we will reschedule for another weekend in October, and all reservations will be honored.
