MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING

June 15, 4 pm5:30 pm.
$18.76

William Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” has everything: gossip, sex, clowns, music, even murder. Using additional text from “Measure for Measure” as well as “All’s Well That End’s Well,” this comedy explores the sometimes funny, sometimes dark parts of societal expectations and generational differences, illuminating the ways that love can set us free.

Arachne Theater presents for the first time at Caveat our annual two-show summer festival! This year’s theme is “From The Tree”, tying together William Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” and “Romeo & Juliet”. Exploring the tension between parents and children as they answer age old questions of love, both productions approach text and performance with Arachne Theater’s main tenet in mind: irreverence. We believe that these shows were created to be timely, funny, and thought-provoking… and while the insurance people have said we can’t allow you groundlings to throw tomatoes at us, audience participation and investment in classic theater is a cornerstone to our irreverence. We reject wholeheartedly the idea that Shakespeare should be enjoyed quietly. So come hoot, holler, drink, be merry, and even have the opportunity to submit ad lib lines to our actors!
